Abstract

Gastroduodenal tuberculosis, affecting stomach and duodenum, occurs in one out of every six patients with gastrointestinal tuberculosis, in one out of every fifteen cases of abdominal tuberculosis and most often develops in patients with destructive pulmonary tuberculosis, although gastroduodenal tuberculosis maу develop separately. Patients report dyspepsia, macroscopic ulcerous infiltration of the mucous coat, partial cicatricial stenosis of the gastroduodenal area. Gastroduodenal tu-berculosis is diagnosed by histologic parameters. Often gastroduodenal tuberculosis is accompanied by abdominal lymphadenitis. Microbiological examination may prove to be invaluable in diagnosing tuberculous gastritis and duodenitis.
